Is “the Polish plumber” really a threat to the French way of life?

Johan Norberg - author of the brilliant book In Defence of Global Capitalism - writes:

There were only 150 Polish plumbers in France, when “the Polish plumber” became the French protectionists’ symbol of destructive competition. As if that wasn’t absurd in itself, yesterday I heard Kjell-Albin Abrahamsson on the radio saying that even the French plumbers’ association claim that France lacks about 6000 plumbers.

Incredible.
